Lagoon Watersports are getting involved with this year’s Paddle Round The Pier Beach Festival on the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July.
The Paddle Round The Pier Beach Festival is the UK’s largest free charity watersports event, with the aim of bringing watersports enthusiasts together to raise fund for the RNLI, the Chestnut Tree House Hospice and SurfAid International.
Lagoon Watersports are holding a series of events at their Hove Lagoon centre over the weekend, as well as being at the event ‘Paddle Village’ itself on Hove Lawns.
Adults and kids can try windsurfing or sailing at Hove Lagoon with their ‘have a go sessions’. These cost just £5, with £2.50 going to the RNLI. Sessions last 90 minutes and include full tuition with all of the necessary specialised equipment, including wet suits. They take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July, plus some dates the following week.
Sessions must be booked in advance by calling 01273 42 48 42, by visiting www.lagoon.co.uk or at their stand at Paddle Round The Pier.
Lagoon Watersports will also host a round of the Neil Pryde Windsurfing Slalom racing championships during the weekend. This will feature the countries top windsurfer racing on a course on the sea off of Hove Lagoon.
“We see slalom racing as the most competitive and more importantly, the most accessible form of windsurf competition”, said a representative from Neil Pryde.
Harvey Dawkins from Lagoon Waterports said: “Slalom racing is the most exciting form of windsurf racing. It is real neck-and-neck stuff, with lots of crashes and overtaking. It’s great to take part in and brilliant to watch”.
And for something completely different, Lagoon Watersports will be running a “Grinch Winch” demo over the weekend. This is essentially a power winch that enables them to tow wake boarders on Hove Lagoon.
Lagoon Watersports also have a stand inside the ‘Paddle Village’ on Hove Lawns, so people can come and chat to staff there too and find out more about their unbeatable membership scheme.
And they have donated £1000 worth of watersports activity vouchers to the main prize raffle, which is valued at over £12,000.
For more details about any of these activities please contact Lagoon Watersports on 01273 42 48 42 or come and visit their stand at the Paddle Round The Pier Beach Festival.
More information about the Paddle Round The Pier is available on www.paddleroundthepier.com.
