Equipment Rental Centre’s
Reef Retreat is ideally located on right on Bulabog Beach with our own Windsurfing school (Reef Riders) a fully “Authorised Starboard centre” stocking all brand new 2011 equipment and Ocean Republic Kite boarding centre (1st IKO centre in Asia) both within the resort grounds, so we can arrange rental of windsurfing/ kite boarding equipment or arrange for lessons and courses. You can literally get out of bed and into your foot straps. The bay has shallow water for the first 100m ideal to learn and then beautiful crystal clear waters to the reef which protects the bay making the water flat. If you want bump and jump conditions then just continue on over the reef and the sea is yours.
The Wind
Boracay is blessed with a 6 month windy season (November to April). The direction (NE) is cross onshore so very safe. The peak months are Dec, Jan and Feb.
The Island
Boracay is a small bone shaped tropical island located approximately 200km south east of Manila, just off the North West tip of the neighboring island of Panay in the visayas group of islands. It is approximately 8km long x 2 km wide. The windsurfing and kiteboarding is mainly from a white sand beach called Bulabog.
Other Island Activities
For those non board riders or on non windy days, you can relax on your veranda or swing in a hammock in the garden of the resort. The Party side with its many bars and restaurants is only a 5-6 minute walk away at white beach. The island has over 30 dive sites and many others available on neighboring islands. Boracay has numerous beaches to explore, a golf course, Fishing, sailing, Spa treatments, Mountain biking, Quad biking/buggy, Helicopter tour, Horse riding, Skim boarding, Wakeboarding, Water skiing, Yoga, Kayaking / Canoeing, Massage, Gymnasium & a Butterfly farm to name but a few. Just ask us for more information.
Getting There
The main entry to Boracay is to fly to Manila and then take a short (35mins) domestic flight to Caticlan airport (on the island of Panay) where it is then a 5 - 10 min boat trip across to Boracay Island. The main domestic airlines are Sea Air (www.flyseair.com), PAL Express (www.palexpressair.com) and Cebu Pacific (www.cebupacificair.com ) who have somewhere around 30-40 flights a day from Manila to Caticlan or Zest air (www.zestair.com.ph) who fly into Kalibo (1.5hrs bus journey to Caticlan).
