The second day of the Mercedes-Benz Windsurf World Cup was a day full of foiling action.

It was a warm welcome for all the 156 windsurf athletes at the Mercedes-Benz Windsurf World Cup on Sylt.

Am gestrigen Freitag konnten wir ein spektakuläres Dithmarscher Towin Event vor einem vollen Publikum am Strand des Mercedes-Benz Surffestival 2018 durchführen. Nachdem am Mittag die Qualifikationsläufe seitliche des Eventgeländes durchgezogen wurden sind, haben sich Foivos Tsoupras, Niclas Nebelung, Tim Karsten und Anton Munz ins Finale ziehen lassen? Um 17Uhr wurde das Finale am Hauptstrand des Festival Geländes über die Bühne gebracht. Hierbei konnte Foivos Tsoupras, den wohl ersten Skopu in deutscher Towin Geschichte erzielen. Niclas Nebelung sicherte sich knapp hinter Foivos den zweiten Platz mit einem AirFunnel Funnel. Anton Munz kam auf Platz 3 mit einem Airfunnel Funnel, Platz 4 ging an Tim Karsten, der einen Shaka im Towin zeigen konnte. Ein erfolgreicher Tag ging zu Ende. Am Abend fand dann noch die German Freestyle Battle Party statt bei der DJ Kev das Haus ordentlich einheizte. Für Sonntag sieht der Wind weiterhin gut aus, um einen Start der Dingle Elimination zu starten. Windsurfing is an easily-accessible sport - To get started, you will need a board and a rig, which is made up of a sail, mast, mast base and a boom. Windsurf boards and sails come in a variety of shapes and sizes and the rider's weight will influence your choice. If you are new to the sport it's best to use a small sail and a board that is wide and buoyant - this will give you the confidence and stability to master the basic techniques. The wind didn't really come through as we'd hoped but it was enough for Karo Van Tonder to set a NEW African National record and a few others to set PB's! The wind is going on Holiday for a few days Now but looks like when it comes back it will be at FULL force!

It started off awesome today and it was looking like some guys might be joining the 50knot club.... but as the afternoon went on the wind backed off!! So here's a bit of an action montage to give you an idea. We don't have any official speeds yet sorry... but top guys were in the higher 40's!

Crazy moves in an epic day of freestyle tow-in windsurfing. The crowds are entertained at one of the biggest freestyle events in Europe. The longstanding Surf WorldCup is once again providing the conditions for all forms of freestyle windsurfing to take place!
