Hot Sails Maui is committed to giving talented young windsurfing students the opportunity to use their skills in a practical setting. The most recent import is our new Marketing Intern Stella. She will be writing a weekly post on the blog which will give an excellent insight and hopefully provide motivation for others to apply in the future, so I will hand over to her to introduce herself and explain what she has been up to recently;
"Hi I’m Stella, 22, from Marseilles (France), and I am currently interning at Hot Sails Maui as part of a Masters in Marketing and Management. After a great summer around Europe, I decided to leave France in September to do an internship in the fields that I love: marketing, communication & the windsurf business. So I packed my bags to move to the greatest windsurfing place in the world; Maui, Hawaii.

Today, windsurf companies use social media to market their brand. And they want visible results. My first mission at Hot Sails Maui is to learn how to use social media to market the brand. With Chris, Marketing & Sales Manager, I create content for multiple accounts across Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. I interact with the community, coordinate promotions and analyze growth and engagement. I am constantly reading windsurfing and extreme sports articles to learn as much as I can. It is also important to look at what other companies are doing in other markets outside of windsurfing, surfing etc.

Sailing update (yes they do let me out of the office!)   

During this first week in Maui, I discovered the wonders of the Valley Isle; warmth, sun, turquoise water and strong winds. The conditions were great to sail with the Hot Sails Maui SMACK 3.3m in Camp One beach. Nothing better to discover this wonderful spot and to improve waterstarts & jibes!

Have you met Mads? Mads is the Design Intern at HSM. Excellent sailor and great designer, he is my roommate in Paia for the months to come.
