I Meet Up With ‘Mr Quayside’……….

Ray Page was the guy who started Quayside Windsurfers way back in 1984 and ran the business himself until he sold it to Neil in 2006. Ray is affectionately known by thousands of Quayside customers and his pleasant manner won many people over to the sport ……. and to his shop Quayside Windsurfers.

I met up for a coffee this week with the 82 year old veteran  and I have to say that he looks in pretty good fettle. Ray’s hobbies are more about his beloved MG cars and classic runs than windsurfing but his passion still shines through when we chat about the sport he and I hold so close to out heart. He jokes about how he does everything twice having suffered 2 strokes, 2 foot problems and 2 back problems over the last 5 years, but don’t get me wrong, this is a guy who is still as fit a most 70 year olds and who taught me to windsurf back in the 90’s coming out to Wells to buddy me when I was gathering the courage to sail the sea as a beginner windsurfer. His patience was admirable and all his advice was free (although I hate to think how much I spent on windsurf kit over the years with him!! Lol).

So please leave a comment as he does look at the website from time to time and he hopes to come up to Wells one day to watch the custodians of the sport in 2015!
