Abu Soma, Egypt

Watersports manager, Seb, spent 5 months working in theMark Warner centre, Abu Soma. To some, the idea ofspending 5 months in the middle of nowhere with no nightlife might seem odd. However, to adedicated windsurfer like Seb this was paradise. While there, Seb took the time to put together this excellent video showing what a fantastic venue it is, even when the Russians invaded. The Team

Abu Soma is based 45 minutes south of Hurghada in Egypt, a truly un spoilt paradise for windsurfers and kitesurfers. I was based there for 5 months during the winter of 2007/08 working as a sailing and windsurfing instructor for Mark Warner Holidays. The video pretty much sums up my time there and shows the lifestyle of being on the water everyday, also experiencing the delights of 1000 Russians descend to our previously quiet and peaceful resort to run the 'Russian Wave' competition consisting of windsurfing freestyle, slalom, kitesurfing and wakeboarding. And you thought the Brits partied hard!

Guaranteed cross shore force 5's everyday with a choice of chop or mirror flat water, I love this place and can't wait to go back. For more info on the resort go to http://www.markwarner.co.uk/sun/egypt/abu-soma
